As well as being part of West Yorkshire Winter Leagues and the Yorkshire Veterans’ Athletics Association, we have our own club competition that runs between January and December each year which is called the Grand Prix.
At our annual Presentation Evening (held in Jan or Feb each year), striders who qualify in the competition can be awarded prizes including trophies. Awards include to the top 3 mixed categories overall winners, as well as age categories winner & runner up.
Grand Prix 2025
- A mixture of organized races on road and trail, free Parkruns and free Club races: Methley 5k qualifier & Gatley Mile
- Open to 1st and 2nd claim members only
- Events must be entered and run as Methley Striders
- If your membership has lapsed at the time of the race, your race cannot count for qualification.
- When you register for an event or parkrun, you need to include Methley Striders as the club as our scorer uses this to find results.
Kit:
- You must wear Methley Strider kit for all races.
- Exceptions: can only be made if running a formal charity place or for the Mad Dog 10k, as any strider wearing Deadpool / Wolverine themed fancy dress is deemed to be wearing kit.
Grand Prix Races:
- Take place between January and December 2025 are are listed below and as events in Band
- 8 races to be run to qualify – If you run more than 8 of the above, the highest 8 scores will be used.
- Each race completed will be given a points score based on age grading – see below
- Striders on the January 2025 C25k program can count the graduation parkrun as one of their 8 races
- Our scorer will post the GP race results after each listed race – it is your responsibility to raise any issues/errors with the committee within a fortnight.
- When errors appear on the official results, it is the responsibility of the strider to resolve this with the organiser.
Golden Ticket:
If you have only run 7 races, you can submit a golden ticket to qualify. This must be a chipped times race. No virtual races allowed. Scoring for the golden ticket race will be the average of your other 7 races. You must email methleystriders@gmail.com with your golden ticket race no later than midnight on 30 November. You are unable to use Golden Ticket if you have qualified based on 8 races or more.
Grand Prix Points:
Age grading is used to decide the finish order. The first strider is awarded 100 points, the second strider is awarded 99 points, the third strider is awarded 98 points and so on.
Bonus volunteer points
- Up to a maximum of 60 bonus points available per strider.
- Up to 2 x volunteer at a Striders grandprix parkrun = 15 points each time (Max 30 points)
